June 15, 2007

Broad Low Pressure off the Yucatan is now INVEST 94L. Tropical Cyclone development is not anticipated or forecast although rain and storms should work into Cuba and Florida. More discussion at Scott’s blog: http://www.midatlanticwx.com/blog.htm.

INVEST 93L Being Tracked

June 10, 2007

A new “area of investigation” (Invest) has developed south of the Cape Verde Islands. Wile impressive…particularly for June…the tropical wave has weakened and Global models are not agressive with development. Full discussion at Scott’s blog: http://www.midatlanticwx.com/blog.htm

Barry Bringing Rain to Southeast

June 2, 2007

with TD Barry inland over Florida, moderate-heavy rain is spreading into GA and SC. Should see widespread 1-3 inch totals…skeptical of prolific 3-5 inch totals given forwards speed. Still, needed rain in the parched SE.

As the bulk of rainfall heads north out of Florida, feeder bands are showing signs of development and should spin in over the Florida Peninsula this afternoon and evening. Note the tornado watch in effect. Florida folks need to be alert for possible tornadoes today!

The Extratropical remnant center should be at Virginia Beach on Sunday night. Not expecting a big wind maker or flooding rains, tho a Flood Watch is posted south of Norfolk along the coast.

Note to computer model enthusiasts: NOAA has experienced a hardware issue and many hurricane models are either delayed or unavailable. We continue to monitor this situation.
