Friday Discussion on MAJOR Nor’easter Storm

April 13, 2007

Extensive discussion/graphics on the upcoming storm to affect much of the East. Severe threat today TX/OK/AK/LA spreads to TN Valley and Gulf Coast this weekend. Coastal Low to bomb out off Mid-Atlantic and track toward NYC on Sunday. This is a major weather event covered in detail at Scott’s blog: http://www.midatlanticwx.com/blog.htm

MAJOR Storm Hits East on Sunday-Monday

April 12, 2007

Yesterday’s blog spelled out some ideas regarding a very strong storm that is forecast to spin up on Sunday near the Chesapeake Bay and affect much of the region. Heavy rain, significant interior snowfall, tropical storm force winds, huge seas and coastal flooding and erosion all are on the table. This event will be a probable Nor’easter on Inland Hugger and will be a huge problem for much of Upstate New York and New England on Sunday and Monday. Model differences still sufficient to hold off on preliminary snow locations and amounts although interior mountains of PA, NY and New England could see significant accumulations. I can’t rule out (especially if the GFS is correct) snow also for the western slopes of the Appalachians bordering WV/VA. Three weeks into Spring and this probably is the biggest *winter* storm for the Northeast, while producing wind and heavy rain for VA and the Delmarva. Weekend plans should take into account this developing weather story. Next update on Scott’s Blog will be Friday morning. http://www.midatlanticwx.com/blog.htm

Snow for the Mid-Atlantic!

April 6, 2007

Cold air and approaching Clipper type storm to blanket portions of the region with snow tonight and Saturday morning :(

Current discussion at Scott’s blog with an update coming this evening. http://www.midatlanticwx.com/blog.htm

COLD and Blustery!

April 5, 2007

Widespread Freeze Warnings tonight and Friday morning from GA through the Virginias and Delmarva. Annoyingly cold air setteling over the region will drop temps into the 20’s overnight for much of the region. Fruit trees and annuals are at risk. Conditions in freeze warning areas will kill crops and new vegetation.

Cold will hold well into next week :(
